BIMStore Update

bimstore

The bimstore team have continued to build strong relationships with manufacturers in helping them develop their BIM strategy for their products. The mix on bimstore includes major international brands such as Metsawood, Kingspan and Dorma but also growing national brands such as Cubicle Centre who are using BIM as the centre of their growth strategy.

The bimstore team are not only hosting components but are assisting with training sessions and marketing materials to ensure that BIM is truly embedded into the manufacturers culture.

As we develop content on the site with evading manufactures we are also growing our user database which includes architects, engineers and designers.

We are continually developing bimstore and have a number of improvements and additions to the site planned for later in 2013.

Campus established

The construction industry is suffering a skills shortage specifically in the adoption and use of new technology. Traditionally construction has been a low tech industry with manual skills being the priority. With the growing use of BIM throughout the project lifecycle there is a need for new skills. In response BIM.Technologies have recently established Campus a specialist BIM training facility at _space group headquarters in Newcastle.

Campus provides students a foundation of sills for the delivery of BIM across the industry. A full time tutor has been appointed with the training facility having the capacity for 15 students at one time.

BIM.Technologies are working in partnership with Barnardos to focus on young people who are currently Not in Employment, Education or Training. (NEET)

Campus is also been supported by Autodesk who are providing a full suite of software and training material. Campus will operate 12 week courses and will then assist the students to find appropriate placements across industry.
